MS VEX Robotics Tournament

Jennifer Weening
On Sunday, December 10, the Middle School robotics team, accompanied by Mr. Jugoon and Ms. Weening, attended their first VEX Robotics tournament of the year at Bayview Glen School in Toronto. Forty-four other teams from the GTA were also in attendance.
Although the team's results were not as good as we had hoped for, for all of our Grade 7 students it was their first robotics tournament, and we viewed it as a very valuable learning experience. It was great to see some other ideas for ways to engineer our robot to be more effective at this year's game, "Full Volume".

We look forward to participating in more tournaments in the new year, and hopefully getting some better results!

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
