Senior School Students Introduced to the Art of Hip Hop
Nathaniel and JP, dance teachers at Run The Flex, a leading hip-hop and street dance studio in Toronto, visited with the Senior School students and faculty this morning during morning Advisory.
Invited by the student leaders of our Diversity Group, Carolyn Du ’24, Zak Khan ’25 and Audrey Jiang ’26, they aimed to educate CDS on black history and hip-hop culture. They did an incredible job making everyone feel like they belonged and inspiring everyone to learn more about black heritage.
After hearing about the origins of hip-hop and the distinctive roles played by Toronto artists, the CDS Cyclones were treated to an energetic hip-hop lesson and performance. It was clear to all why Nathaniel has appeared in Netflix films and danced alongside the Raptors, and JP has won top awards at dance competitions like World of Dance Toronto. Their combined expertise and artistry was exhilarating.
The most memorable part of the session was the interactive dancing where students and faculty learned moves and showcased their newfound talents on the stage.

Land Acknowledgment
