Pathways to People Fundraising

On January 25th, Pathways to People honoured Bell Let’s Talk Day by wearing blue! Mrs. Hall read Dragons on the Inside by Valeria Coulman to all of her classes and brainstormed different questions that we’d want a friend to ask when we’re having a hard day. These questions were turned into stickers to help spark a conversation with a friend about our feelings. Pathways to People was able to donate $500 to Kids’ Help Phone from monies raised for our dress down day.
During term two, Pathways to People held two non-uniform days to support our national charity, Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society. Students wore red and white for Valentine’s day and to show their love for nature! Mr. Liggett accepted a donation of $1000 on behalf of Canadian Parks and Wilderness.

On February 28th, Pathways to People honoured Pink Shirt Day by standing up to bullying and all of our JS students and faculty wore pink! Students listened to a reading of Kathryn Otoshi’s book, One, at our assembly earlier in the week. It taught us that we can stand up for each other, and when we all stand up together, we can be very powerful. Each class created a paper chain full of ideas of how they could take action to stand up for themselves or others when someone is being unkind! Pathways to People was able to donate $500 to CKNW Kids’ Fund which helps anti-bullying initiatives.

As always, Pathways to People’s initiatives would not be possible without the generous donations from our Junior School families. Thank you so much for your continued support!

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
