The Board of Directors of The Country Day School is a group of volunteers with diverse backgrounds and fields of expertise who volunteer to serve the School through participation on the Board. With the CDS Mission as its guide, the Board is tasked with overseeing the governance of the School including the oversight of strategy, policy and risk management.

The Governance Committee of the Board is responsible for ensuring that the Board is appropriately populated to meet the objectives of the upcoming year and beyond. This year, the Committee is looking particularly for individuals with the following backgrounds to enhance the Board’s slate of returning directors:
● Law
● Human resources
● Real estate development
● Alumni connections to CDS

A term of service on the Board is three years for a maximum of two terms. Successful candidates will be expected to attend all meetings of the Board, participate in community events and advancement activities, and will be asked to engage in at least one of the Board Committees.

Service on the Board is a terrific opportunity to support the endeavours of the School and to participate in long range planning for future generations of students.

Should this opportunity be of interest to you, please submit the completed  Nomination Form by Friday, June 7th to the attention of Mr. Luis Chacin, Chair of the Governance Committee at board.luischacin@cds.on.ca.

Sincerely,
Tina Mithra
Chair, CDS Board of Directors

LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
