Construction Update

We celebrated the start of this transformative project with Groundbreaking Events in May 2026, and Phase One is already making great progress. Barring weather or permitting delays, we're on track to wrap up this phase by Fall 2027.

A State of the Art Athletic Centre

At our 2024 Annual Auction, Head of School John Liggett announced the Dream Together Campaign to support a new fieldhouse replacing our aging Dome. By 2025, at the Boots & Bids Auction, an even grander vision was unveiled: a state-of-the-art Athletic Centre.

This ambitious two-phase project will construct a state-of-the-art 58,000+ square foot facility designed to significantly enhance the educational and athletic experience for CDS students. This initiative represents a monumental step forward in our commitment to providing unparalleled resources and opportunities for our community.



Phase One

Phase One: A New Hub for Athletics and Community This initial phase is meticulously planned to introduce a dynamic array of new spaces that will transform our campus:
  • Fieldhouse: A versatile and expansive indoor space, ideal for various sports, training, and school-wide events, offering year-round functionality regardless of weather conditions.
  • Double Gym: Providing ample room for multiple sports activities simultaneously, this double gymnasium will support our thriving athletic programs and foster competitive spirit.
  • Spectator Lounge: A comfortable and inviting space for families, friends, and faculty to gather and cheer on our athletes, fostering a strong sense of community.
  • Outdoor Terrace: Offering a breath of fresh air and a scenic vantage point, this terrace will serve as an ideal spot for informal gatherings and events, connecting indoor and outdoor spaces.
  • Washrooms and Change Rooms: Modern, accessible, and well-appointed facilities designed with the comfort and convenience of our students and visitors in mind.


Phase Two

Phase Two: Expanding Wellness and Campus Resources: The second phase will take place once funds are raised and will further enrich the CDS experience by introducing:
  • New Fitness Center: A cutting-edge facility equipped with modern exercise equipment, promoting physical well-being and a healthy lifestyle for all students.
  • Multi-Purpose Studio Rooms: Flexible spaces that can be adapted for a wide range of activities, from dance and yoga to academic workshops and collaborative projects.
  • New School Store: A modernized and expanded store offering school merchandise, supplies, and a convenient hub for our community.

Phase One of the project is estimated to cost $32 million. Thanks to our incredible community support, we have already raised an impressive $22 million in pledges and gifts. We extend our sincere gratitude to all of our Lead Donors for their exceptional generosity.

While we still have ground to cover to achieve our vision, we are confident that our community will continue to champion this transformative new facility.

HOW CAN YOU SUPPORT

You can support the project through donations. There are many spaces available for naming in honor of your family or business, with exposure based on the donation level.
Here are the recognition tiers:
  • Donations of $50,000 or more: Donors will be recognized with an individual donor recognition plaque on your selected named space
  • Donations of $25,000-$49.999: Donors will be recognized on the main Donor Recognition Board.
  • Donations of $10,000-$24,999: Donors will be recognized on the Beacher Sponsor Board in the gymnasium.
All donations of $10,000 or more can be pledged and paid over a term of up to 4 years.

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
