CDS Named Top School at Early Bird Debating Tournament

By Mme Davidson on behalf of Mrs. Wyndham-West and Mr. Robinson
Last Saturday, Isla Gunning ‘30, Charlize Bianchi ‘29, Sasha Nigul ‘28 and Andrea Mascan ‘27 travelled to St. Clement’s School in Toronto to compete in the first debating tournament of the school year, the Early Bird Tournament.
All four debaters delivered outstanding performances, demonstrating impressive preparation, skill and teamwork. Their hard work paid off as CDS was named Top School overall, a tremendous accomplishment to kick off the debating season!

Adding to the accolades, Andrea was named Top Speaker in the Senior Division, earning well-deserved recognition for her individual performance.

Congratulations to Isla, Charlize, Sasha, and Andrea on an incredible start to the season!

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
