Get Ready for Battle of the North!
Sports Fans and Supporters,
CDS Athletics is proud to introduce an exciting new tradition this fall - The Battle of the North.
This inaugural rivalry series will see The Country Day School take on our northern rivals, Holy Trinity School (HTS), in a week-long competition for the Northern Cup. Taking place from October 19–23rd, the series will feature four varsity matchups, with each game contributing to the race for the Cup and, of course, bragging rights for the year.
Battle of the North Kick-Off Event
Before the rivalry week officially begins, we are excited to launch the Battle of the North with a special community event on Friday, October 2nd, as our Senior Girls' and Senior Boys' Soccer Teams host HTS on campus.
The afternoon will serve as both a Senior School Fall Game Day and a celebration of CDS school spirit, bringing together students, families, alumni, and community members to support our varsity athletes.
Event Schedule
2:00 p.m - 3:30 pm– Senior Girls' Soccer: Hawksworth Field
- Senior School students will be dismissed at 1:55 p.m. to cheer on the team. Students are encouraged to wear their CDS spirit wear and help create an outstanding home-field atmosphere.
- The U12 girls will walk out with the team, scrimmage at halftime and the U15 girls will ball retrieve for the game.
3:45 p.m. - 5:15 pm – Senior Boys' Soccer: Hawksworth Field
- Following the girls' match, the entire CDS community is invited to stay for the boys' game as they continue the Battle of the North against HTS.
- The U12 boys will walk out with the team and scrimmage at halftime. The U14 and U13 boys will be ball retrievers for the game.
Beginning at 3:30 p.m., families can enjoy:
- Food trucks - Smash burgers and fries
- Ice cream truck
- Face painting
- Balloon animals
- CDS spirit wear sales
We encourage students, families, alumni, and friends of CDS to come out and support our athletes while celebrating the beginning of what we hope will become one of our school's signature traditions. A strong crowd will create an incredible atmosphere for our teams and help kick off this new rivalry in memorable fashion.

- Monday, October 19
- Senior Boys' Volleyball vs. HTS (Home)
- U16 Boys' Soccer @ HTS
- Tuesday, October 20
- U14 Boys' Volleyball vs. HTS (Home)
- Wednesday, October 21
- U16 Boys' Volleyball @ HTS
- The Northern Cup will be presented following the final competition.
For now, mark your calendars, wear your CDS colours, and get ready for the first-ever Battle of the North as CDS takes on HTS in pursuit of the Northern Cup.

Land Acknowledgment
The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
