CDS Students Participate in Canada’s Premier MUN

For the second year in a row, an independent delegation comprised of mostly CDS students competed in Canada's most competitive Model United Nations conference: SSUNS (Secondary Schools’ United Nations Symposium). The conference, organized by the McGill student body, featured more than 1,300 delegates from countries all over the world. The entire delegation competed in the most advanced tier of MUN - high-level specialized and crisis committees.
Abraham Litwin-Logan ’19 was successful in winning an honorable mention in what is generally perceived to be the most challenging committee found in high school or university-level MUN committees, Ad Hoc. This style of committee requires delegates to adapt to topics that are only released to delegates with limited notice, therefore preventing preparation and research beforehand. The other 10 CDS delegates, made up of mostly Grade 11 students, were a force to be reckoned with in the face of formidable competition.

This was a fitting prelude to CDS hosting its first-ever MUN last Friday. Read the Full Story.

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
