Join us for the premiere of "Held" at the Spring Concert

This year, the Senior Vocal Class had the extraordinary opportunity to collaborate with acclaimed singer-songwriter and UofT Jazz professor, Jacqueline Teh, on a custom-commissioned work.
The process began in the fall with a collaborative brainstorming session, where Professor Teh got to know each student's unique vocal profile to compose a piece specifically tailored to our ensemble. After months of rehearsals, the class welcomed her back for a specialized workshop to hone their technique and refine the piece's emotional depth.

The resulting song, "Held," embodies the class’s core values: connection, joy, and hope for the future. We are incredibly grateful to Jacqueline for her artistry and dedication. We invite you to join us for the premiere of "Held" at the Spring Concert on Thursday, May 14th.

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
