JS Mathematica Competitions 2026

At the final Junior School assembly Monday, the results of the Grades 3-6 Mathematica contests were announced.

There were 26 Grade 6, 22 Grade 5, 24 Grade 4, and 14 Grade 3 students for a total of 86 students who wrote the contests this year.
The Grade 3 Thales contest had a national average score of 15.04 out of 30. We had 10 students who earned a distinction award for exceeding the national average.
  • Our top scoring Grade 3 student this year was Chloe Yuan who scored 26/30!

In the Grade 4 Byron Germain contest, the Canadian national average was 18.24 out of 30. We had 21 students who exceeded this average and who received a distinction certificate. 
  • Our top scoring Grade 4 students this year were Jake Xu and Leo Wang who both scored a perfect 30/30!

For the Grade 5 Fibonacci contest, the Canadian national average was 24.47. We had 18 students who exceeded this average and received a distinction certificate. 
  • Our top scoring Grade 5 students this year were Owen Sun and Harvey Wu who both scored a perfect 40/40!

For the Grade 6 Pythagoras contest, the Canadian national average was 32.22. We had 23 students who exceeded this average and who received a distinction certificate. 
  • Our top scoring Grade 6 students this year were April Su and Ezra Leung who both scored 49/50!

Congratulations to all the students who spent many hours doing practice tests and working diligently to understand challenging questions. All the hard work they put in has already paid off in their increased knowledge and understanding of mathematics.

Land Acknowledgment
