Performing Arts Inspires Grade 7's

By Ms. Alexander-Lui & Ms. Baird
On Wednesday, 30 Grade 7 students headed to downtown Toronto for an unforgettable full-day excursion in the performing arts!

The morning kicked off at the Underground Dance Centre with a dynamic Ensemble Singing and Acting Through Song workshop led by industry professional Ryan Whittal. Students brought incredible energy to the floor as they honed their vocal techniques and learned original choreography to a section of "Don't Stop the Beat." They were cool, cool, cool!

After refuelling over lunch, the group headed over to the Princess of Wales Theatre for a matinee performance of The Karate Kid The Musical.  Our students enjoyed the opportunity to see a new, professional show and even make new friends in the audience.  It was an inspiring day filled with creativity, music, and lasting memories!

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
