It’s been an action-packed Fall in the Post-Secondary Counselling office! Since returning from our annual GY Trip last month, Grade 12 students are diving headfirst into university applications across Canada, the US, the UK, Ireland, and beyond.
To spark inspiration and answer burning questions, CDS hosts lunchtime visits in the Mantella Atrium where representatives from top universities and colleges drop in to chat about program choices, student life, and admissions. These mini-fairs run most Wednesdays from 11:45 to 12:30 and are open to all students in Grades 9–12. We've also had the pleasure of welcoming guest speakers from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI), the University of Southern California, and even Dr. Tracey Elliot, a Law professor from the University of Exeter—giving our Grade 11 and 12 students fantastic, in-depth glimpses into specialized fields!
Some important upcoming deadlines for our Grade 12 students are:
Just past - October 15 - Application deadline for Oxford, Cambridge and/or UK direct-entry medicine
November - December - Early action and early decision deadlines for some US colleges
November - December - Early admissions deadlines for some programs at University of Toronto
November 15 - Application deadline for Irish direct-entry medical programs
December 1 - University of British Columbia (UBC)’s early deadline to be considered for scholarships
Our team welcomes questions or visits from parents and students at any time.
Mr. David Huckvale
Director of Admissions & Post-Secondary Counselling
The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
Founded in 1972, The Country Day School is a co-educational private school offering programs in JK-12 and located on 100 acres north of Toronto in King.
