I now have two children at The Country Day School; my eldest joined the Senior School in Grade 9 two years ago. Like any child starting high school, she was filled with eagerness, excitement, and a touch of nerves. However, she was paired with a mentor who took her under their wing, guiding her through the first few weeks—an experience that led to a wonderful friendship.
Her homeroom advisor, teachers, and guidance counselor also helped make her transition incredibly smooth. She eagerly joined the Grade 7–9 drama performance that first fall, where the team’s supportive nature was evident from the start.
CDS offers many different opportunities for children to explore, and we are so grateful for that. My eldest has embraced every opportunity that has come her way, whether traveling for debating tournaments or taking on leadership roles like becoming a House Captain. Her teachers are absolutely amazing—supportive and encouraging in every way. She has adjusted incredibly well, and it feels as though she’s been there much longer than she actually has.
My second child joined the Middle School this past year, and her experience has been very similar. Her mentor welcomed her into a friend group and assisted her with any questions she had. Like her older sister, she also jumped right into the fall drama production and did incredibly well. Both of my daughters have adjusted beautifully to the school and have taken advantage of every opportunity to get involved.
As a parent, I feel incredibly confident having them in this safe environment, where the value of exceptional teachers cannot be overstated. I am deeply grateful for their unwavering support—whether in the classroom, dedicating extra hours after school for the debate team, or mentoring students in theatrical productions. I eagerly anticipate all that my daughters will achieve during their time here, knowing that these opportunities would not have been possible without the support of The Country Day School.
