JS/MS/SS/Parent Summer Reading Lists

"School might be out, but the page-turning adventures are just getting started! Keeping those reading muscles flexing over the break is the ultimate secret weapon for the fall, and here’s the best news: just 20 minutes a day is the sweet spot! For solo reading, encourage your students to dive into books at their current level or even an easier, breezy favourite—it’s all about building unstoppable confidence and pure reading joy." - Ms. Ashley Waller

Need some summer reading recommendations? Check out our lists below that have been carefully compiled by our wonderful librarians Ms. Johnson and Ms. Rutledge. Grab a book, find a dock, hammock or sunny spot, and let the summer reading fun begin!

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
