Jenna Romanowich is an experienced educator in her 22nd year at The Country Day School, currently teaching Grade 8 Design Technology and Media Studies and Grade 10 Career Studies, as well as serving as a Senior School Learning Strategist. In her Design Technology and Media Studies course, she integrates 3D printing, innovative mini-projects and the Design Thinking process to foster creativity, innovation, and problem-solving skills. In Career Studies, she helps students explore future pathways through alumni guest speakers, experiential opportunities such as a university campus visit, and innovative lessons designed to deepen self-awareness and inspire consideration of potential career directions.
Previously, Jenna spent 19 years teaching vocal music across Junior, Middle, and Senior School levels, directing the Junior School musical, and mentoring young performers. Her background in music informs her teaching philosophy, emphasizing bravery, vulnerability, and the importance of discovering one’s passions.
Jenna is committed to cultivating curiosity, confidence, and strong human connections in her students. She differentiates learning experiences to meet individual needs, models lifelong learning, and celebrates the growth of each student. Her approach encourages students to experiment, build strategies for decision-making, and approach the world with creativity, kindness, and resilience.
Land Acknowledgment
The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
