The Junior School celebrated a fun-filled Term 3 at their Athletic Assembly Tuesday. Our two Grade 6 students, Ori and Alessandra, did a fantastic job MCing the event as we honoured our U12 Girls Softball, U12 Boys Slo-Pitch and U12 Track Teams (so many PBs!)!
Thank you to Canadian Mogul Skier and CDS Alumna Berkley Brown ’18 (Ms. Brown’s sister) for her inspiring keynote address.
A special shoutout goes to our newly crowned Athletes of the Year and Sportsmanship Award winners! Your hard work and leadership on and off the field truly inspire us all.
The Athlete of the Year is presented annually to the athlete who best demonstrated leadership, sportsmanship, commitment to the CDS program, and athletic excellence throughout the school year.
Junior School male athlete of the year - Jackson Bruzio
Junior School female athlete of the year - Harper Hubley & Alexa Gougoulias
The sportsmanship award is presented annually to an athlete who best demonstrated team spirit, a positive attitude, and conformance to the rules, spirit, and etiquette of their sport. They are all fantastic ambassadors for our school.
Our assembly closed with this advice from our MCs:
“Don’t stop moving this summer! Go for a bike ride, swim, play catch, or join a local team. And to everyone who will be in grades 4-6 next year: we challenge you to try out for a team next year.
“Whether it’s cross country, volleyball, hockey, or badminton—get involved. We promise, you won’t regret it!”
The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
Founded in 1972, The Country Day School is a co-educational private school offering programs in JK-12 and located on 100 acres north of Toronto in King.
