CDS Fall Game Day Kicks off Battle of the North

By Geneva Winterink
A huge thank you from your Athletics Department to everyone who came out to support our teams at GAMEDAY on Friday!

The energy around the field was amazing. Seeing our students running around, getting their faces painted, cheering from the sidelines, and supporting our teams was exactly what we had hoped for. It was especially great to see our U10 and U12 Cyclones alongside our Senior teams, as well as our Middle School athletes getting involved and bringing their energy to the event.
After watching those Junior School games at halftime…we think we have a very bright future for CDS soccer coming up the pipeline!

Our dream with GAMEDAY was to bring the entire school community together through sport, and last Friday, it truly felt like that dream became a reality. Thank you to everyone who helped make it such a special day. We are already looking forward to creating more events like this in the future!

And as for that big trophy… the fight isn't over yet! We will continue battling HTS throughout October as we look to bring the Northern Cup home to CDS. Our U13 Boys Soccer team got us on the board with our first point after their win on Tuesday.

Here is the game schedule for The Battle of the North Week, October 19–26:
  • Monday, October 19
    • U16 Boys Soccer @ HTS
  • Tuesday, October 20
    • U13 Boys Soccer @ HTS
    • U14 Boys Volleyball @ HTS
  • Wednesday, October 21
    • U16 Boys Volleyball @ HTS
  • Monday, Oct 26th
    • Senior Boys Volleyball vs. HTS — Home at CDS
The Northern Cup will be presented on Monday, Oct 26th at CDS following the Senior Boys volleyball game to the school with the most wins!

Let's keep the energy going and continue to show what CDS Athletics and the Cyclone community are all about — competing with pride, supporting one another, and representing our school the right way.

Thank you again for coming out, cheering, and supporting CDS Athletics.

Go Cyclones!

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
