Recap of Huron Heights Harrier Cross-Country Meet - By Manny Avila

The weather could not have cooperated more perfectly yesterday for the Huron Heights Harrier XC Invitational yesterday. Just as we hoped, the sun broke through, and a light breeze picked up right in time to dry out the grass before our Junior races kicked off, making for fantastic course conditions.
Race Highlights
Our runners brought tremendous heart, grit, and energy to the 5.1 km course.

Addison Palmer continued her blazing racing season with an outstanding performance, finishing 7th out of a massive field of 118 runners with a phenomenal time of 21:51.57! Her pacing, focus, and drive against top competition were nothing short of inspiring.

Logan Colozza once again put on a clinic in mental fortitude, proving that he can more than hold his own in a fiercely competitive field of 178 runners! Pushing his body well into the "zone of discomfort," Logan dug deep on every climb and straightaway, demonstrating the relentless determination and resilience that define CDS Cross Country!

Huge congratulations to both of our Junior runners for laying it all out on the course today. Your hard work and mental toughness continue to shine through!

CDS Shines at Hillfield-Strathallan College Cross-Country Meet - By David Di Salle

On Tuesday, CDS Middle School runners had their first taste of competition at the Hillfield-Strathallan College Cross Country Meet in Hamilton, and the results were impressive!  The 3km race challenged athletes to set a quick pace right away and hold on all the way to the finish line amidst steep competition. Our athletes displayed talent, stamina, grit, and a level of sportsmanship that our CDS community can be truly proud of.  Here are the results:

  • Arthur Meng asserted himself as a force to be reckoned with, placing 3rd in the U13 Boys event.
  • In U13 Girls, Amy Ha secured 13th overall with a solid and determined run.
  • In the U14 Boys category, William Young captured 16th with a great all-around effort, and Liam MacDonald and Darren Cheng flew like the wind across the finish line in 7th and 4th place, respectively.

We couldn’t have asked for a better day.  With lots of sunshine, an awesome team vibe, and both individual and team successes, our first meet was a memorable one and is sure to set the tone for a fantastic running season.  Our next competition is on October 15th at the SMC Invitational at Bond Head…

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
