Volunteering

The Country Day School has an active network of people in our community with a diverse set of talents to share, and this sharing of time and energy contributes to the education and personal development of our students in both tangible and intangible ways.

We would be happy to direct you to the appropriate area within the School that would benefit from your skill set. Whether you have a few hours to spare or more - we would love to hear from you.

Please peruse the volunteer options listed below. If you are interested in learning more about any of these opportunities, please contact the Office of Community Relations at 905.833.3640 or email us at volunteer@cds.on.ca.

Thank you for your interest!

Interested in Volunteering?

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at The Country Day School!

As a member of the Canadian Accredited Independent Schools (CA+IS), The Country Day School undergoes a rigorous set of external inspections in order to ensure we meet or exceed established standards across a wide variety of metrics.

As a result of these routine assessments of our policies, the need for a volunteer policy was identified.

Most of our volunteers do not have regular or direct one-on-one contact with students. We refer to these volunteers as Level 1 volunteers. Prior to the start of their first volunteer activity, they are required to complete a Volunteer Offence Declaration Form, available for download below. For subsequent school years, the Form is completed annually, at the beginning of the school year.

For volunteer situations which might involve regular and/or direct contact with students which the Head deems to have limited teacher supervision parameters (eg. one-on-one), a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) is required.  We refer to this as a Level 2 activity and some examples are working in the General Store and assisting with coaching and drama productions. Please see the Process for Level 2 Volunteers. (Each region handles this process differently, so please refer to your relevant region PVSC available for download below.) A PVSC is required prior to the start of the volunteer activity. For subsequent school years, Level 2 volunteers need only complete the Volunteer Offence Declaration Form on an annual basis, at the beginning of the school year.

If you have any questions about our process or our Volunteer Policy please contact Melanie Sheppard, Director of Finance and Administration at 905.833.1220 extension 286 or melanie.sheppard@cds.on.ca.
