Envisioning our Future

The Country Day School's Long Range Plan

In 2016, four key priorities emerged as the foundation of The Country Day School’s mission, vision, and values—principles that have shaped our journey and will continue to guide us: Support, Know and Inspire; Balance and Innovate; Build and Engage our Community; and Enhance our Financial Sustainability. These priorities form the framework of our commitment to providing an exceptional educational experience for your child(ren) at CDS.

Shaped by meaningful conversations and community-wide surveys, these priorities reflect the collective insights of our CDS families, faculty, and staff. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who contributed to this process.

In the years ahead, we remain dedicated to advancing initiatives aligned with these four priorities while integrating feedback from our parent survey into our long-term vision for CDS’s future. Stay tuned for updates as we continue to evolve and grow together.

CDS will provide an approach toward instruction that is rooted in a deep understanding of our students. We will support wellness for all and continue to attract inspirational and caring faculty and staff.
We will continue to provide a balance of exceptional academics, arts and athletics. CDS will lead in outdoor educational experiences and environmental citizenship across all grades and offer a balanced approach to technology.
We will further strengthen and engage our community members and fully engage our alumni connections.
We will continue to nurture our philanthropic culture, while ensuring our long-term financial sustainability.

“From its beginning 50 years ago, CDS has been the shared vision of some very fine people who came together from all walks of life to create a community dedicated to young people. Our school supports and inspires our students. Most of all, it is a place that feels like home.” - John Liggett

What's Next?

We will continue to elaborate on these four priorities and share frequent progress updates through The Backpack, The Link, our website and social media channels.

Look for these coloured icons around the School and in future updates as we continue to highlight initiatives on an ongoing basis.

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
