Eunice Yu

Middle School Math & Science Teacher
How do you continue learning in your life? What is your professional passion?
Since beginning my teaching career, I've pursued numerous Additional Qualification courses and a Master's program to deepen my pedagogical understanding. If not teaching related, I would learn to gain a hobby. More recently, my focus has shifted to robotics, and I am still learning so much from expert teachers. I often plan ahead and look forward to additional learning opportunities.

My profession passion is to become a resource for other educators, helping them refine their practices and, in turn, positively influencing the lives of more students.

What is one of your favourite interactions with students?
My favorite moments with students are those "Aha!" moments when a difficult concept finally clicks into place. It is a good sign when a student says, “That’s it?” or “Oh, that was easy.” or “Math is fun, it wasn’t too hard”. These moments are why I love what I do.

Favourite Thing about Working at CDS:
What I love most about CDS is the people. The staff and administration are incredibly supportive, patient, and I feel comfortable asking for help. I am surrounded by so many talented teachers who are experts in more than the subject they teach. The beautiful drive to work, especially during the spring and fall, is also a welcome bonus.

Something You’ve Crossed off your Bucket List:
-I have taught across all divisions, including in university, and I now aim to teach across all grades!
-Although I don’t consider myself overly sporty, I have tried a few sports, including paddle boarding, rock climbing, and archery. There’s always more activities to try!
-Travelling alone. I would like to travel more well into the future.

Other than CDS, I Support:
Branches Christian Theatre Group, Korean-Canadian Educators Network, Milal Mission, and more.

Hometown:
I was born and raised in South Korea, spent my teenage years in Etobicoke, and now proudly call Orangeville my hometown.
