Mr. Fanni to Host Summer Reading Club Again

Since last year’s Summer Reading Club was such a success, Mr. Fanni will be hosting the Summer Salon again this July for keen Grade 10 and 11 students interested in reading important, relevant and compelling works.
The Summer Salon will meet once a week throughout the month of July to discuss both a fiction and nonfiction reading. Students may sign up for one or both texts, and each session will be split between the two. Last summer, the group read and discussed Homer’s The Odyssey, as well as political issues of the day.

Mr. Fanni emailed Senior School students this afternoon with the registration link and May 28th deadline. In this registration, students can vote on their ideal day/time and submit any suggestions for the texts. Those who register will then be sent a vote to finalize their choices and later be notified of the day/time of the club meetings.

Have a keen reader in Grade 10 or 11? Then please encourage them to sign up for Summer Salon!

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
