CDS Summer Camp in King will open its doors for another summer of fun in June 2023 and we cannot wait! We are excited to offer an action-packed summer day camp experience with programs that include specific sport instruction (basketball, tennis, volleyball and multi-sport) along with robotics, MindBusters, leadership, drama and art programs.

You will notice a small change this year in the registration process as campers will now be registered by grade (grade completed as of June 2023) rather than age.

  • Art Camp

    *Grades 3 to 8

    CDS Art Camp will allow campers to explore their creative side. Campers will have the opportunity to grow as artists, learning new techniques and skills while creating their own masterpieces each day. Activities will be focused in areas such as:
     
    • Painting
    • Drawing and sketching
    • Sculpting
    • String art
    • Paper art
  • Basketball Skills Camp

    *Grades 3 to 8

    The CDS Basketball development program offers 5-day sessions throughout the summer. Basketball skill development is maximized through individualized programming, specific to the needs of each camper. Each camper will receive more than 15 hours of scheduled training and game action each week including:
     
    • balanced foot work
    • ball handling and management
    • various game strategy
    • techniques to improve playing in game situations
    Your camper will also experience all that a summer day camp has to offer.
  • Day Trippers Camp

    *Grades 6 to 9

    As its name suggests, this camp will include trips off-campus in the afternoon (Tuesday-Friday). Activities such as golf, laser tag, swimming, rock climbing, bubble soccer, etc. are examples of what campers can expect.
  • Debate Camp (Through Debate Camp Canada)

    Debate Camp is offered through Debate Camp Canada. Register on their website.
  • Drama Camp

    *Grades 3 to 8

    Through the fun and engaging experiences, the CDS Drama Camp ultimately gives rise to the development of personal qualities that will benefit campers no matter where life takes them. Personal development includes self-awareness, communication skills, teamwork, leadership and confidence. 

    Camp activities and exercises include lots of physical movement ... this is not a 'sit-in-the-audience-and-watch' drama camp! The campers will also be able to interact with the sports camps and take part in camp games!
  • MindBusters Camp (Math & Science)

    *Grades 3 to 8

    The CDS MindBusters Camp is designed as a fun, hands on, and interactive program to engage campers in the world of math and science. Their minds will be put to the test by completing a wide variety of activities and experiments, some that result in chemical reactions such as volcanic eruptions, creating ooey gooey slime, building catapults, and much, much more.

    Your camper will also experience all that a summer day camp has to offer.
  • Multi-Sport Varsity Camp

    *Grades 6 to 8

    The CDS Multi-Sport Varsity Camp offers 5-day sessions throughout the summer. The skill development is maximized through individualized programming, specific to the needs of each camper. Multi-Sport will run a variety of activities, including:

    • soccer, ultimate frisbee, tennis, field hockey, soccer-baseball, basketball, dodgeball, floor hockey, catchball and golf
    • opportunity to work with the expert coaches from tennis, soccer and basketball skills camps
    • learn rules and strategies in all sports
    • leadership games
    Your camper will also experience all that a summer day camp has to offer.
  • Multi-Sport Rookie & All-Star Camp

    **Campers must have completed SK as of June 2023 to register for Multi-Sport Rookie (SK to Grade 2) & must have completed Grade 3 as of June 2023 to register for Multi-Sport All-Star (Grades 3 to 5)

    The CDS Multi-Sport program offers 5-day sessions throughout the summer. The skill development is maximized through individualized programming, specific to the needs of each camper. Multi-Sport will run a variety of activities, including:

    • soccer, ultimate frisbee, tennis, field hockey, soccer-baseball, basketball, dodgeball, floor hockey, catchball and golf
    • opportunity to work with the expert coaches from tennis, soccer and basketball skills camps
    • learn rules and strategies in all sports
    • leadership games
    Your camper will also experience all that a summer day camp has to offer.
  • Music Camp

    *Grades 6 to 7

    Music Camp is an opportunity for campers to continue to practice their instrumental skills outside of the classroom. Campers will be required to provide their own band instruments for this program as rentals will not be available. Campers will work in a full band setting, small ensembles, on Orff instruments, and have the opportunity to learn the guitar or ukulele.
  • Robotics Camp

    *Grades 3 to 8

    Campers in the CDS Robotics Camp will experience the thrill of seeing their robotic creations come to life using the all-new LEGO® EV3 robot kit. This camp will explore the fundamentals of structural design and programming using this fun, hands-on approach. Activities will involve various theme-based challenges and will culminate in an exciting end-of-week demonstration.

    The beginner camp requires no prior experience with robotics and will introduce campers to navigation and movement using motors and sensors. The advanced camp will challenge campers with tasks that require more sophisticated designs and more complex programming. Both camps will expose campers to valuable problem-solving skills and present rich connections to concepts in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
  • Tennis Skills Camp

    *Grades 3 to 8

    The CDS Tennis development program offers 5-day sessions throughout the summer. Tennis skill development is maximized through individualized programming, specific to the needs of each camper. Each camper will receive more than 15 hours of scheduled training and game action each week including:

    • ground strokes (forehand and backhand)
    • volley (forehand and backhand)
    • serves
    • footwork/court coverage
    • rules/scoring
    Your camper will also experience all that a summer day camp has to offer.
  • Volleyball Skills Camp

    *Grades 6 to 9

    The CDS Volleyball development program offers 5-day sessions throughout the summer. Volleyball skill development is maximized through individualized programming, specific to the needs of each camper. Each camper will receive more than 15 hours of scheduled training and game action each week including:
     
    • balanced foot work
    • ball handling and management (serving, volleying, bumping etc.)
    • various game strategy
    • techniques to improve playing in game situations
    Your camper will also experience all that a summer day camp has to offer.
  • Leaders in Training

    *Must have completed Grade 9 in June 2023

    The Leaders in Training (LIT) program will offer up-and-coming camp counselors:
     
    • the qualities and skills involved in becoming a good leader
    • firsthand experience in working with children ages 8-13
    • successful participants will receive a certificate of completion at the end of the week
    • Upon successful application process, participants will earn 20 volunteer hours toward their high school diploma (during a second week spent as a camp volunteer)
