Orientation Day Music Session for NEW Students

There will be a special music session from 12:00 pm until 1:30 pm on Orientation Day for all new CDS music students from Grades 5-8 who have NO PREVIOUS experience on a band instrument. This session will introduce your child to the CDS Music Program, including the instrument rental process and the band instruments. We will assist your child in choosing an instrument to which s/he is best suited. The instruments that we study at school include: flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, French horn, trombone, baritone and tuba.

If your child does not own an instrument, please login to MYCDS, click on Back-to-School found through Resources to review the rental contract information and purchase options outlined there.

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
