Please Drink Responsibly

Neyla Kirby, Grade 7 & MS Enviro Council
As you may know, CDS is an ever changing place, always striving to be its best. Which is why, starting after the Easter long weekend, we will be RE-enforcing a ban against single-use store bought plastic water bottles. “Less than half of the plastic bottles sold in Ontario find their way to recycling bins. The rest, an estimated one billion plastic bottles each year, end up either in landfills or the environment”.

At The Country Day School we have a constant supply of fresh, healthy, and local water which is further filtered and readily available in our fountains throughout the School, as well as multiple water stations in our Dining Hall.

In previous years, CDS has received the Gold Standard from Eco Schools, a result of our strong commitment to our environment through such strategies as the plastic bottle ban. This year, we are hoping to maintain our Ontario Eco Schools Gold Standing.

We feel that it is important to do our part - not only as a community, but as citizens of the world. Please help us continue to improve our school and help the environment, one initiative at a time.

Thank you for your continued support of the CDS community.

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
