CDS Bids Farewell to Three Staff Members

As exciting as the end of year can be, Closing Day 2017 will also be bittersweet as we prepare to say farewell to three special staff members leaving after 29, 15 and 14 years of service.

Sarah French
will be most remembered for her unconditional dedication in the Junior School. As the creator of our annual Grandparents’ Day, she has taught and inspired hundreds of young students along the way. She is also part of the French family legacy at CDS, married to one of its first graduates John ’74, and the mother of Shannon '15 and Emma ’12, the first child of a CDS alumni to graduate from the Senior School. We wish Sarah and her family all the best as they embark on a new adventure in Port Carling, Ontario.

Keith D'Lugos joined CDS in 2002 and has been maintaining our campus grounds with a smile and a positive attitude ever since. Our beautiful acreage is what it is thanks to the efforts of the Groundskeeping team, and Keith is an integral part of it. Keith is a valued member of our community who is as dedicated, hardworking and committed as one can be. We wish Keith and his family all the best as he begins his retirement this summer.

Krista Koekkoek has taught at CDS since 2003, serving as a French teacher, Head of Modern Languages Department, and Head of Learning Support. Koeks coached the Senior Girls’ Rugby team to 11 consecutive CISAA championships and helped develop our first U14 Girls’ Rugby program two years ago. She ends her CDS career as Director of Student Life, a role that suited her perfectly, and we wish her all the best as she writes her next chapter as Director of Guidance at Trinity College School.

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
