UPDATE - O’Neill Among Top 10 Canadian Hurdlers at Nationals

Wilson O’Neill ran his second ever 110m Hurdle race at the National Youth Track & Field Championships in Brandon, Manitoba last Friday. During track season this year he ran 100m Hurdles, so had to adjust to the different spacing for this race. Although he ran a huge personal best (PB) to finish 10th in Canada and 3rd among his age group as the other boys were a year older, he just missed qualifying for the finals by a few hundredths of a second.

Then o
n Sunday, Wilson ran the 400m Hurdles, which again was only his third time running this distance. The hurdle height was lower than the race at Junior Nationals, and he had only two weeks to make the adjustment. He ran a great race and once again achieved a PB, finishing 9th overall, with only one athlete his age ahead of him in the final rankings. Wilson was excited about his performance and placing as he realized he is among the top 10 hurdlers in Canada.

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
