Important Traffic Safety Reminder

Drivers continue to be challenged in turning both left and right onto Dufferin Street upon exiting the School. Please exercise great caution and proceed only when you’ve fully determined that it is safe to do so.

While on school property, take great care and travel at a reasonable rate of speed, given the fact you are in an active school zone and you never know when a young person might do something unexpected. It helps when you not only follow our lowered speed guidelines but also abide by the following:
  • Drop-off and pick-up only in designated lanes (not in active traffic lanes)
  • Do not leave your vehicle in a drop-off lane and enter the building (this is particularly an issue in the Junior School lot)
  • Do not pick-up or drop-off in the cross-walk zone
  • Follow the directional arrows
  • Do not park and wait in laneways
  • Obey stop signs on the property
Please help us keep everyone safe at CDS.

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
