Middle School Book Club

Miss Krisko
For Middle School avid readers, a new online club has emerged this term. The MS Book Club has been in full swing since February. Every Wednesday, our Middle School students are transported to a galaxy far, far away where they get lost in the magic of books.

Our current book choice, The Unwanteds by Lisa McMann, has us exploring the land of magic, Artime, and dreaming of a place where creative minds gather together and master our craft. Not only do we get to dissect the lives of characters and the worlds they live in, but we have been visited by distinguished guests who have us engaged in special topics like Gothic culture and mental health.

Energizer games such as scavenger hunts, book-stacking bingo, and character dress-up events are always on the agenda, as well as a weekly Book Talk by each of our members. The MS Book Club provides an enriching experience for our Middle School bookworms, allowing their imaginations to soar and exercise their minds.

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
