Junior School French Week

Mme Racine et Mme O’Rourke
During the week of April 11-14, our Junior School celebrated La semaine du français (French week) for the first time ever. The main goal of this week was to show our students that the French language is all around us.
We started the week off with a special presentation in our JS Assembly. Students from Grade 3-6 presented a French rap called À CDS on parle français! Written by our very own Mme Racine. It was so wonderful to see our students put their language skills in action!

Throughout the week, we listened to announcements in French, learned fun facts about the language, and looked at posters around the halls. We especially loved all of the delicious French food prepared for us in the Dining Hall.

On the final day, our Grade 4 and 6 classes partnered up with Mme Davidson’s Grade 12 class to play some French games. We had a blast learning with our friends in the Senior School.

We cannot wait to celebrate with you again next year!

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
