This week the Parent Association held our AGM and Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast where we had an opportunity to recognize all members of the community who have volunteered their time throughout the school year. At the AGM we introduced the new slate for the 2025-2026 Parent Association with Paola Baldassarra-Juhasz taking over as President. Paola has been a part of the community since 2022 and has two children at CDS, Lucas in Grade 9 and Portia in Grade 7.
It has been an absolute privilege to be the President of the PA this year! I would like to personally thank the wonderful volunteers on the 2024 – 2025 PA committee for their hard work and dedication to making our CDS community so vibrant and welcoming!
Along with the events and programs the PA runs every year, like the Holiday Fair, the Walk of the Back 40, the Preowned-Uniform Sale and Grade Parents, the PA also assists in coordinating additional volunteers throughout the year who provide a friendly face at school concerts, plays, open houses and parent teacher interviews. This year we also introduced a new Parent Mentor program to help welcome over 100 new families to the school, and provide them with an ongoing resource.
We also hosted interactive school-wide events for parents, while showcasing our beautiful facilities at CDS. Some of these events included tennis clinics in the fall, evening pickleball clinics in the winter, a cooking class in the dining hall and a unique sound bowl meditation event held in the theatre this spring. We were excited by the great response we had from parents, who came out to learn something new and make new connections.
Thank you again for the opportunity to give back to the CDS community – it has been a great honour and a lot of fun!

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
Founded in 1972, The Country Day School is a co-educational private school offering programs in JK-12 and located on 100 acres north of Toronto in King.
