CDS Soccer Tour 2025: Competition, Culture and Growth

By Ms. Leacock

Both CDS Senior Soccer teams recently got back from an unforgettable “football” adventure in England. Combining intense competition with an incredible cultural immersion into the world of English football, this tour was a massive win, both on and off the field.

Our teams faced off against some talented squads, forcing our players to step up their game and develop exponentially. They returned with elevated skills and a stronger tactical mindset, proof that challenging yourself against the best is the fastest way to grow.
Our athletes had the opportunity to experience the heart-pounding action of professional football, including the electricity of the away section at a Premier League game (Aston Villa vs. Burnley) and a Championship Game where we had a unique on-field experience to begin the game (Derby vs. Southampton).

But the ultimate highlight? Standing inside the iconic Wembley Stadium to watch the international clash between England and Wales. Witnessing this level of football live, in these unique atmospheres, was an experience we will definitely not forget.

It wasn't all cleats and corner kicks; we spent our final days exploring London's most famous spots. We saw the iconic Buckingham Palace, including the changing of the guard, walked down historic streets past Big Ben, the London Eye, Covent Garden, Westminster Abbey, and more.

This trip was the perfect mix of athletic development wrapped up in an incredibly memorable cultural football experience.

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
