Visiting Guests in Careers Class Inspire Students

Over the past few weeks, CDS has hosted some inspirational alumni as guest speakers in Ms. Romanowich’s Grade 10 Careers class. Jesse Levine ’19, Senior Coordinator of Amateur Scouting for the Toronto Blue Jays, was still riding the high of the Jays’ recent World Series run. His story is a quintessential roadmap for chasing down and realizing one's dreams.
Jesse shared his impressive journey from the University of Waterloo’s Sports Business program right into the high-stakes world of MLB scouting. Retired CDS faculty member, Dean Sherman, was on hand to introduce him with a recollection of Jesse's love for baseball in his Middle School math class nearly 10 years ago. It was a full-circle moment!

Elliot Eydelman ’15 returned as well to share his journey from studying Aerospace Engineering at Carleton University to joining MDA Space, a Canadian space technology company that provides geo-intelligence, robotics and space operation services.

Elliot has put his degree to good use as a Mechanical and Project Engineer, and most recently as Mechanical Department Supervisor at MDA Space. Last October, Elliot accompanied MDA Aerospace Engineers onto our campus to test the guidance and navigation systems of one of their rovers on our challenging terrain in the Back 40.

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
