Gr.10 Personal Fitness Class Visits Pilates Studio

By Ms. Steadman

The Grade 10 Personal Fitness class recently enjoyed an energizing trip to a Reform Room Pilates studio, where students were introduced to the reformer machine. The session was both fun and challenging, as students worked on strength, balance, and control through a series of guided movements.
A key focus of the course is exposing students to a wide variety of workouts, encouraging them to step outside their comfort zones and discover new ways to stay active. Trying the reformer was a great example of this, highlighting an engaging and effective workout that supports one of the school’s guiding principles of Fitness for Life. The reformer is a versatile option suitable for all ages and fitness levels.

The idea for the visit came from Nadia, who regularly attends reformer classes and wanted her classmates to experience it firsthand. After a great workout, students refuelled with a refreshing smoothie or juice from Freshouse; the perfect way to wrap up an active and engaging outing.

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
