MS Track & Field Highlights from CISAA Finals

The following was announced in the Middle School this week as part of morning announcements. -By Meredith Langston

I’d like to take a moment to recognize the incredible efforts and accomplishments of our U14 track and field team at the CISAA Finals held at York University. Our athletes gave it their all, competing with determination, sportsmanship, and pride in their school. We are proud to announce that Country Day School finished 5th overall in a highly competitive field—an excellent achievement!
We had several standout performances from athletes who placed in the top 3 of their events. Let’s take a moment to celebrate those outstanding results:

Sprints & Hurdles
  • In the 80m hurdles, out of 40 athletes, Matteo LiVolsi claimed 1st place with a blazing time of 13.98 seconds, and Armaan Sidana followed closely behind in 2nd place with 14.15 seconds.
  • Ricky Ren took 2nd place in the U13 200m out of 43 runners with a time of 30.56 seconds.
  • Jacob Chan earned 1st place out of 40 athletes in the U14 boys’ 200m with a time of 28.13 seconds, and 3rd place in the 100m out of 49 athletes, finishing in 13.38 seconds, and 4th in triple jump.
Middle Distance
  • Myles Whitby placed 2nd in the U13 boys’ 800m, finishing in 2:40.66.
Relays
  • A huge congratulations to our U13 boys’ relay team—Armaan, Myles, Ricky, and Matteo—who placed 1st overall out of 16 teams with an impressive time of 56.43 seconds.
Field Events
  • In the U14 girls’ shot put, Noelle Ladouceur placed 3rd out of 31 athletes with a throw of 7.95 meters.
  • In the U13 boys’ high jump, Armaan Sidana placed 2nd out of 60 athletes, clearing 1.35 meters.
  • Maggie Wang earned 2nd place in the U13 girls’ javelin, throwing 22.75 meters against 64 athletes.

Each of these achievements reflects the dedication, skill, and effort that our athletes brought to the season. They represented CDS with pride and excellence both on the track and in the field.

Let’s give a big round of applause to our medalists and to the entire U14 track and field team for an outstanding season!

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
