Grade 9s Build Connection and Confidence at Camp Pine Crest

By Ms. Castellan
As part of the Grade 9 program, students spent three days last week at Camp Pine Crest, taking part in a range of outdoor and team-building activities designed to foster leadership, collaboration, and personal growth.

Throughout the trip, students tackled outdoor skill challenges such as fire building and high ropes courses, participated in group games that encouraged teamwork, and some even braved the elements for an overnight canoe trip or hike.
The experience offered countless opportunities for the grade to connect, forge new friendships, and strengthen bonds with classmates and teachers alike. The growth, exploration, and sense of adventure displayed throughout the trip were outstanding, and students returned to campus energized—with new friendships, sense of confidence and a passion for the outdoors.

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
