Giving in the Senior School this Season

This holiday season, the Senior School will be giving to two wonderful organizations: 360°kids and Senior Wish Association.

The Grade 9 and 10 students are supporting 360°kids. This is an organization in York Region dedicated to preventing homelessness and helping youth at risk or in crisis transition to safety and stability They offer comprehensive support across four pillars—Housing, Employment, Education, and Health & Wellbeing—to help young people achieve stability and independence. 360°kids has requested toiletries and hygiene products including shampoo, condition, feminine hygiene products, toothbrushes and toothpastes, towels, underwear, socks, undershirts, razors, and gift cards.
The Grade 11 and 12 students are supporting Senior Wish, an organization that has a goal of alleviating the loneliness and isolation that seniors may experience. The holidays can be a difficult time for those who may spend the holidays on their own in retirement homes, long term care homes, or hospitals.

Items brought in for donation can be placed in designated boxes in students' homeroom classrooms. All items are due by Friday, December 12th. Also, we kindly ask that any gift card donations be handed in to the Senior School office. Our hope is that these individuals can feel special this season. Items to consider bringing for Senior’s Wish are blankets, slippers, sudokus, candles, refillable water bottles, mugs, etc.

Thank you for supporting our holiday giving drive; the Senior School is excited to partner with these fantastic organizations to make a difference in our community!

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
