The CDS Parent Association had a busy start to the school year. We hosted two pre-owned uniform sales, Grade Parent socials and a Walk through the Back 40, coordinated volunteers and snacks for school concerts and plays, organized two parent tennis days, and so much more. We were so pleased to see so many of you enjoying these activities.
Last week, we hosted our amazing Holiday Fair. Thank you to all members of the community who came out to support this annual tradition. We hope you enjoyed exploring the vendors’ offerings and kick-starting your holiday shopping. During your visit, we hope you also had an opportunity to savour a beverage at the latte station (courtesy of the Parent Association), enjoy a glass of wine, or maybe join us for the community lunch in the Dining Hall. All of this added to the amazing experience that was created.
A special thank you goes to CDS Parent Association Executive Member, Laura Sgotto-D'Alessio, for all of her hard work planning such a wonderful event over the past five months.
I also want to thank all the volunteers who continuously support our initiatives and help everything run smoothly.
As 2025 comes to a close, we are busy planning for the New Year. We look forward to connecting with parents and celebrating these wonderful school activities together, including:
Pickleball Clinics — January 21 & 29 - Back by popular demand! We are excited to host two parent pickleball events on campus. Instructors will be available for beginners, and we’ll also run games for more experienced players. Registration opens in early January; kindly watch The Backpack for details.
Cooking Class — February 5 - Following last year’s successful cooking class (where parents learned to make pizza!), we’re teaming up once again with the talented chefs from our Dining Hall to teach us a new culinary skill. Further details and registration will be shared in The Backpack in mid-January.
Wishing everyone a joyous and relaxing holiday season.
The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
Founded in 1972, The Country Day School is a co-educational private school offering programs in JK-12 and located on 100 acres north of Toronto in King.
