What a party we held last Friday here in our CDS SaddleDome. From the start of the evening, everyone was kicking up their heels and ready to celebrate and support CDS. The night featured a vibrant live auction and an extensive silent auction that truly had something for everyone - from Blue Jay tickets to a trip to Morocco and everything in between.
When you walked in you were greeted by line dancers and trick rope entertainers and a live band to finish off the evening. Guests were treated to a scrumptious dinner and the speciality whiskey beverages were a hit.
A very special thank you to our Auction Co-Chairs, CDS Parents Sarah Powell ‘96 and Catrina Marzilli, who led our incredible Auction Planning Team and worked countless hours over the past six months to bring the evening together. To the volunteers who assisted with prep prior to the event, and event day set up, your part did not go unnoticed. Many hands do indeed make light work! Thank you to all!
Thank you to all of our auction sponsors and donors for making the night such a huge success. Without your commitment to sponsoring, donating an item or cash gift, the marvelous success of this evening would not have been possible. For those in attendance - thank you for your support.
This amazing evening, while a lot of fun, raises much needed funds for capital improvement projects at the school. Over the past years the funds have gone to a variety of capital projects, including the stop lights on Dufferin Street and the scoreboard on Hawksworth Field.
In 2024 our Head of School, Mr. Liggett announced the Dream Together campaign, supporting a new field house to replace the existing dome, as it nears the end of its lifespan. This year Mr. Liggett presented the newest dream, a full athletic facility that will encompass not only a new field house, but a double gymnasium and in the future specialty studios and fitness spaces. Full details on this amazing project will be shared in detail shortly via a separate communication.
We encourage you to take a look at some of the highlights of the evening, as well as our year in review video. The spirit of CDS was certainly alive and the Auction committee is so pleased to announce that $264,000 net was raised toward making this athletic facility dream a reality, that will benefit all of our students across the school.
As we bring this year to a close we ask that you SAVE THE DATE for our 50th Annual Auction on Friday, May 29, 2026. While it will have a different look, and not take place on campus, it will still be the same - a great community event and fundraiser for our school.
The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
Founded in 1972, The Country Day School is a co-educational private school offering programs in JK-12 and located on 100 acres north of Toronto in King.
