What an uplifting final Junior School assembly!

Monday’s final Junior School Assembly was truly uplifting, marked by heartfelt moments including the announcement of retirements. We celebrated Elred Hopkin, who faithfully served behind the scenes for 26 years as the bus driver for Route 2, and Mr. Michael Moore of the Music Department, whose kind and gentle spirit brought music to life for our Junior School students over the past three years.
Junior School also thanked our Dining Hall staff who work so hard to feed us throughout the year and our Pathways to People Grade 6 team who led us by example this year.

The winners of this year’s Grade 5 Agenda Cover Art contests were announced by Ms. K: Front cover is by Edith Hanna and Back Cover is Tessa Pizzale. May class trip highlights were shared in fun video formats and the winner of the Rogers Shield this year was Dunlap House!

Mrs. Wildberger ended the last assembly of the year with these words:
“And now, here we are, it is Summer again, and you are one year older, one year wiser and one year happier.
Every day the sun rises at The Country Day School.
Every day the sun rises welcoming a brand-new day.
Every day you get to decide if you will be happy.
Will you be kind?
Will you be curious?
Will you be non-judgemental?
Will you be positive?
Every day, you decide - WHO WILL YOU BE? As this year comes to a close, I wish you see many magical sunrises in your life and that the sunrise always reminds you of the power in each and every day.”

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
