Introducing... GY Trip 2025!

Mr. David Huckvale & Ms. Darby Moreau
By Mr. David Huckvale & Ms. Darby Moreau

We are thrilled to announce the details of our annual GY Trip for Grade 12 students taking place in September 2025.  Year after year, our students tell us that this trip is instrumental in helping inspire them to find a post-secondary destination that is a true fit.
Students will pick between the East trip (visiting McGill, University of Ottawa, Carleton University and Queen’s University with overnight stays in Montreal and Kingston) and the West trip (visiting McMaster University, University of Guelph, Wilfrid Laurier University, University of Waterloo, and Western University - including Huron with overnight stays in Waterloo and London).

In addition to campus tours, we reconnect with CDS alumni at each stop and stay overnight in university towns that we know some of our students will come to call “home”.  The trip is an incredible bonding experience for students and sets the tone early on for the year ahead.  For these reasons, this trip is considered mandatory for all Grade 12 students.

Buses will depart from CDS early in the morning on Wednesday, September 24 and return in the early evening on Friday, September 26.  The cost of the trip will be approximately $600 per student. The cost of meals, evening activities, etc. is extra and to be paid out-of-pocket by the student.

Parents of Grade 12 students will receive a permission form soon.  There is limited space on each trip, so spots will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.  Students are encouraged to be thoughtful about their choices as future changes can only be made if there are spaces available.

Please connect with us if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,

The CDS Post-Secondary Counselling Team

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
