Senior Vocal Students Shine in Final Performance

This year’s Senior School Vocal class took their final bow on Tuesday with an intimate concert in the Paul C. Duckett Theatre as their final project performance.

The performance opened with a trio by all three students, joined by their teacher, Ms. Kettrick. The students then showcased their individual talents through a mix of solo performances and duets, frequently accompanied by the ever-supportive Mrs. Curran on piano.
Quynh-Nhi Nguyen ’28, in her first year at CDS, has stepped confidently onto the stage, diving headfirst into the world of performance with enthusiasm. Although new to choral music, she has been singing for several years, and her expressive rendition of On the Steps of the Palace from Stephen Sondheim’s Into the Woods captivated the audience. Outside of music, Quynh-Nhi enjoys playing sports and embracing every opportunity to laugh and learn.

Nicholas Hammer ’26 demonstrated remarkable versatility, moving seamlessly from Handel’s Lascia Ch’io Pianga from the opera Rinaldo to a moving duet of Stay Gold from The Outsiders musical by Justin Levine, performed with classmate Chloe Turner ’26. With over 11 years of vocal training, Nico brings a wealth of experience in classical and musical theatre. This year marked his first foray into vocal jazz, showcasing his range and willingness to explore new genres.

Meghan Weinroth ’26 delivered three passionate performances, beginning with the powerful No One is Alone from Into the Woods and concluding with a duet of Tonight You Belong to Me by Billy Rose and Lee David, performed with Quynh-Nhi. A dedicated vocalist since Grade 2, Meghan also plays guitar, writes her own songs, and is currently learning the ukulele. A true performer at heart, she has performed at every CDS Coffeehouse she could.

A heartfelt thank you to our talented vocal students for sharing your music and voices with us. Your voices. We can’t wait to see where your musical journeys take you next!

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
