For Middle/ Senior School Students:
If we were to encourage our students to do just one thing that would contribute to their future success in life, it would be to read more. Among other things, reading increases our vocabulary, develops analytical thinking skills, reduces stress, teaches empathy, and enlightens us about the world we live in.

Summer is the perfect time to read those books that have been on your list for some time. Don't have a list or in need of some fresh ideas? Click below for a list of summer reading recommendations from our MS/SS Librarian, Mrs. Rutledge.

Parents, feel free to check out our suggestions for both Middle and Senior School as well. We wish you a summer of great reading!

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
