CDS Relay Team Sets New OFSAA Record!
For the second year in a row, CDS qualified nine students for the Track & Field OFSAA Championships held in Toronto, where on June 8th our Jr. Boys’ 4x100 Relay team not only placed first, but established a new OFSAA record!
The team of Jonah De Simone ’20, Caleb Clarke ’20, Lucio Masini ’20 and Maxx Railton ’20 had an incredible season leading up to OFSAA, winning Gold at CISAA as a prelude to their OFSAA Gold win and record-breaking race.
Other highlights included Jane Stanton’s 12th place finish and PB in Sr. Girls’ 100m hurdles, Maxx Railton’s 5th place finish in the Jr. Boys’ 100m, and Wilson O’Neill’s 8th place finish in Sr. Boys’ 110m hurdles.
More highlights continued on the last day with Wilson O'Neill placing 10th in Sr. Boys’ 400m hurdles, Kira Gupta-Baltazar placed 7th in the Jr. Girls' 3000m, Maxx Railton placed 5th in the Jr. Boys' 200m, and Angelica Tait placed 24th and Lauren Adams placed 18th in javelin.
To put these achievements in perspective, OFSAA is the third largest high school track meet in North America, behind only the California Interscholastic Federation and the Penn State Relay Meet. Approximately 270,000 students and 16,000 teacher-coaches participate in school sport in Ontario.
Congrats to the entire team and Coaches Denise Steadman, Geneva Winterink, Josh Collins and Sarah Parker on an outstanding season!
