The news of the passing of Ms. Steph Collins on Monday has struck our community to the core. However, we are mindful that Steph would want us to continue to live life to its fullest, and get outside and enjoy every day.
Ms. Collins, was a beloved member of the Junior School faculty since 2003, the force behind the launch of our Junior School Outdoor Ed program in 2011, and more recently the extension of the program into the Middle School. Right now, I don’t think anyone can gaze out onto our sprawling back property without imagining Steph leading her flock on an exciting new adventure exploring the world around them.
Steph requested that there not be a traditional funeral. Instead, she hoped that CDS might be able to install sunscreen protection/dispenser stations around the property. CDS has partnered with The David Cornfield Melanoma Fund to make this admirable goal a reality.
For the many in our community who have asked what they can do in Steph’s memory, we encourage you to visit www.dcmf.ca (The David Cornfield Melanoma Fund) to learn more about sun safety, Melanoma research, and if you wish to make a gift in Steph’s honour. We look forward to honoring Steph’s wishes by having these stations installed in the near future.
Thank you to the entire CDS community for the incredible outpouring of sympathy and support during these difficult days.
