#CDSBreakout Week Goes Social

Next week marks our third annual Breakout Week for CDS students in Grades 9-12 and we hope to share some highlights of these adventurous outings with you on social media. The educational aspect of breaking out of the classroom walls provides an excellent opportunity to take the educational journey to all sorts of exciting places.
Students in Grade 9 will be travelling with their classmates to a camp in Haliburton where they will have the opportunity to make new friends, take on new challenges, and discover things they didn’t previously know about themselves.

Grades 10-11 have chosen to embark on destinations based on personal interests, whether that be artistic and dramatic, STEM, environmental, altruistic in nature, athletic and cultural (UK Soccer trip), cultural diversity in Toronto, or fitness and wellness, they will enjoy adventures we think will inspire them in all sorts of new ways. Some will involve activities closer to home and some will involve travelling further afield.

Grade 12s will be off on the annual trip East or West to explore a variety of different university settings to support them in making their decisions about what comes after high school. They will head off for a three-day tour either East or West of Toronto to visit key campuses of higher learning in Ontario and Quebec.

We have asked our accompanying faculty members to document these incredible journeys through our CDS social media channels (NO locations will be tagged and NO students named) and hope that you will follow us next week on either InstagramTwitter or Facebook @TheCDS1972.

Of course, there will be lots of posts and stories to share on our website and in The Link upon their return as well!

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
