Grade 8-11 Course Selection Process 2020-21

It’s hard to believe, but we are beginning to plan for next year already…

During the first weeks back in January, members of the Student Services and Post-Secondary Counselling teams will be visiting the Grade 8-11 classes to explain the 2020/2021 course selection process to students. During these visits, your child will receive a hard copy of the course selection form, a copy of the 2020/2021 Academic Course Calendar and a letter from the Director of Student Services.
The Academic Course Calendar is an important tool for the course selection process. Please note that the Course Calendar and Course Selection Form will be available for you to view online once all of the class visits have been completed. Please look under Resources in the MyCDS Dashboard, Course Selection 2020/2021. We encourage you to take some time with your child to discuss their courses for next year.

On Thursday, January 16, we will be holding the annual Senior School Academic Fair, where students in Grades 9-11 will be able to attend sessions and ask questions of teachers who are currently teaching elective courses. On Monday, January 13, the Grade 8 students will have the opportunity to hear from the Grade 9 Art, Drama, and Music teachers so they can make an informed decision about their Arts elective for Grade 9.

Course selection forms must be signed by parents and are due to the Student Services Centre (SSC) between Friday, January 17 and Monday, January 27. During that time, the Student Services team will be available to meet with students to give them support with course planning, and you should also feel free to contact Maria Huckvale at ext. 321 if you would like to book a phone appointment or live meeting with your child’s guidance counsellor. If you would like to meet with David Huckvale or Darby Moreau, from our Admissions and Post-Secondary Counselling Office, please contact Liz Duckett at ext. 225 to book an appointment.

Thank you for your ongoing support.
