CDS Student Selected to Serve On DECA Executive

Grade 10 student Marinna Speranza was recently announced as a 2020-2021 Executive Provincial Officer for DECA Ontario. She will be working as the Branding and Communications Officer for the coming year representing the 15,000 DECA members across Ontario. As one of only eight students on the team, this is the first time a CDS student has been chosen.
DECA is an international program designed to instill professionalism and prepare youth to respond to authentic business cases and market demands through conferences and competitions. The organization creates opportunities that allow students to develop confidence, skills and leadership.

The DECA Ontario Provincial Officer team represents the drive and professionalism of members across the province. As an officer, Marianna and team will make decisions that guide the direction of the organization, advance the programming goals of the organization, and serve as role models for its members.

The CDS community has always taken pride in its DECA chapter headed by Mrs. Aldoroty and Mr. Avila. With more than 30 students competing against 7,500 other DECA members at DECA Provincials this past February, four students successfully placed in the top 7 in their respective categories to advance to the international competition. Congratulations to Lauren Adams ’20, Neyla Kirby ’22, Tarini Amarasinghe ’22, and Marianna Speranza ’22. Although they were unable to travel to Nashville to compete due to the Coronavirus, we would like to congratulate them on their accomplishments.
