In honour of Pride Month, CDS raised the Pride Flag on Tuesday for the first time in its history. Michael Cherny from the Class of 2008, Ms. Geneva Winterink, Simona Tiberio-Leung ’21 and Katya Harbauer ’21 from the Inclusivity Barbershop club were on hand to celebrate our school's continued commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Michael spoke with our Senior School students virtually in March about making the decision to live his truth. At the time, he urged students to live authentically and to never apologize for who they are, that others in the CDS community will always be there to support them. As is stated in our guiding principles, at CDS we "Create a place where all are welcome."
The Pride Flag will fly at half-staff for the remainder of our 215 hours in recognition of the tragic revelations surrounding Indigenous residential schools this week.
