GYs Participate in Grad Rally through ALIVE Outdoors Connectival

Ainsley Johnston '21
A special virtual Grad Rally took place on Tuesday for the GYs. The students were invited to connect with each other remotely using different forms of technology provided by ALIVE Outdoors - through their Connectival Online Programs.
Graduates started the event by meeting their faculty team member, as well as their ALIVE Instructor and were given a rundown of the event. The event consisted of four student teams and a teacher team competing in a variety of tasks to earn points. The tasks were composed of group-based missions and individual-based adventures that had the graduates reflecting on their time at CDS, showing off a skill, solving riddles, and much more.

Some examples of individual missions were, shooting a basketball, finding a way to stack ten ice cubes, opening snack bars while wearing oven mitts, giving advice to their future selves, and reflecting on the qualities that make up a good friend. The team missions gave the graduates an opportunity to learn even more about their peers and friends with missions such as, making intention wind mobiles, reflecting on what they were most grateful for at CDS, their biggest take away from their time at the school, and creating a sunset like image using their Google Meet screen squares.

Graduates used the GooseChase app to track progress and see their teams overall ranking while being able to admire other teams submissions. The competition was close throughout the event with no one team dominating the first place spot. At the end of the event the graduating Class of 2021 was left with a fun and reflective way to celebrate their camaraderie, friendships and achievements.
